Gmail to Tally automation
Supplier invoices that arrive in Gmail are read and entered into TallyPrime as purchase vouchers, ready for your accountant to check.
The problem
Why connect Gmail and Tally?
Supplier invoices arrive as Gmail attachments. Someone downloads each one, reads it and types it into Tally, line by line, and invoices that get buried in the inbox are entered late.
How it works
Step by step.
- 01
A Gmail filter labels invoice emails from your suppliers, and the workflow picks up each new email with that label.
- 02
PDF and image attachments are read by AI: supplier, GSTIN, invoice number, date, items, taxable value and GST.
- 03
Totals are checked against the line items and the GST split, and the supplier is matched to its ledger in Tally.
- 04
A purchase voucher is created in TallyPrime through its built-in XML interface, marked for review.
- 05
Anything that doesn't add up, or a supplier that isn't in Tally yet, goes to a person instead of being guessed.
Who it's for
Businesses that receive supplier invoices by email and keep their books in TallyPrime.

FAQ
Questions
Does Tally need to be online?
The workflow talks to TallyPrime over its XML interface, so Tally must be running and reachable when vouchers are posted. That can be your office PC, a server, or Tally hosted in the cloud. We set up the connection with you.
Will it post entries without anyone checking?
Not unless you want it to. By default vouchers are created for review, and your accountant approves them in Tally.
Which email providers work besides Gmail?
Outlook and Microsoft 365 work the same way. Only the first step changes.
