AI automation for law firms

AI can reply to new enquiries, collect intake details and conflict-check information, chase clients for missing documents and send routine matter updates. It does not give legal advice: lawyers review and decide everything that matters, and how client data is handled is agreed with you before anything is built.

Where the time goes

A lot of a fee earner's week goes on work nobody bills for. New enquiries need a reply and a few basic questions before anyone knows if the matter is worth taking. Intake forms come back half filled in, and ID and documents arrive in pieces.

Once a matter is open, clients ring for updates, documents need chasing, and time gets recorded at the end of the day from memory. Each task is small, but together they push real legal work into the evenings.

What we automate

5 automations for law firms

  1. New enquiry triage

The problem: Prospective clients often contact several firms, and the first one to reply with something useful tends to get the instruction.

What we build: Each enquiry gets a prompt, courteous reply that asks the basic questions for that practice area and offers a consultation slot. The answers are summarised for a lawyer, who decides whether to take the matter. No advice is given in the reply.

ExampleSay someone emails on Sunday about a boundary dispute. They get a reply asking for the address and a short summary, plus available consultation times, and the summary is waiting for your property team on Monday.

  2. Client intake and conflict-check details

The problem: Collecting names, other parties, ID and engagement details takes several emails, and someone retypes it all into the case system.

What we build: The client fills in one guided form. The details are checked for gaps, other parties are listed ready for your conflict check, and a draft file is prepared for a person to review and open.

ExampleSay a new client is buying a house. They get one link that collects their details and the seller's name, and your team runs the conflict check from a ready list instead of reading through emails.

  3. Document chasing

The problem: Matters stall because a client has not sent a bank statement, a signed form or proof of ID, and nobody has time to chase every day.

What we build: Each matter has a list of documents still outstanding. Clients get polite reminders with a secure upload link, and the fee earner sees what has arrived and what is still missing.

ExampleSay a probate client still owes two documents after a week. They get a gentle reminder listing exactly what is needed, and the file is updated when they upload them.

  4. Routine matter updates

The problem: Clients phone or email for status updates, and each call interrupts a fee earner.

What we build: Clients get short updates when a matter reaches a set stage, written from templates you approve. Questions that need legal judgement are sent to the lawyer handling the matter.

ExampleSay searches come back on a conveyancing file. The client gets a short note that they are in and what happens next, without anyone having to write it.

  5. Weekly work-in-progress summary

The problem: Partners piece together matter status and unbilled time from the case system and spreadsheets.

What we build: A weekly summary shows new enquiries, matters opened, matters waiting on clients and time not yet billed, pulled from the tools you use.

ExampleSay a partner wants to know which matters have been waiting on the client for over two weeks. It is listed in Monday's summary.

FAQ

Questions law firms ask us

How is client confidentiality protected?

We agree up front what data the automation can see, where it is stored and who has access, in line with your own policies. Confidential documents can be kept out of the AI step where you prefer.

Will it give legal advice to clients?

No. It collects information, chases and sends approved updates. Advice and decisions stay with your lawyers.

Will clients find it impersonal?

Messages are written in your firm's tone and are short and useful. Clients can always reach a person, and many prefer a quick update to waiting for a call back.

What does it cost?

You get a fixed quote after a free 30-minute audit, once we have agreed which task to automate first.
